Self-evaluation Management involves exercising control over people and processes. The interaction with people has social implication and ability to exercise control over the people require managerial skills that should be identifiable to the subjects. This paper, from a managerial perspective, responds to results of a self-evaluation exercise. How knowing personal classical profile pattern and its characteristics affect my approach to management Knowing personal classical profile pattern and its characteristics affects a person’s approach to management by offering an appraisal to an individual’s current managerial approach and potentials.

Knowing my profile pattern therefore improves my approach to management by allowing me to work on my identified potentials and improve on them for better management. This is because even though I previously assumed possession of certain characteristics into effective management, I never took them seriously. The appraisal has however confirmed my traits and motivated me to exploit such traits as being a motivated person, being able to work with teams, and being collaborative. Knowing my classical profile pattern therefore motivates me to improve my managerial potentials.

Response to the assessment results The results did not surprise me because they reflected on my personality. Even though they were impressive to identify qualities that I overlooked, I have always believed that I, to some extent, have the characteristics that the results indicated. Assessment of my value to an organization and plans to build on my strengths Results of the personal assessment identify my strengths towards value addition to an organization. My intrinsic motivational factor and my strife for success are likely to drive an organization’s processes towards achievements.

This is because of my characteristic to make initiatives towards achievement of objectives as well as my ability to influence people around me to ensure success. My considerate nature together with my assertive characteristic also means I can develop interpersonal relations to ensure cohesion in an organization towards effective teamwork and managerial roles. Similarly, my constant desire to achieve objectives as well as my identified fear of failure also guarantee diligence in my initiatives to ensure efficiency in an organization’s processes.

This also promises maximized utilization of an organization’s resources. Being considerate and emotionally sensitive also means that I can offer appropriate leadership in an organization to facilitate success in teamwork (Blanchard, 2008). Some of the changes that I plan to make are being flexible in my initiatives and being relaxed in pursuing my goals. This is because flexibility and a relaxed approach to operations will improve my creativity and efficiency in managerial operations. Personal opinion of self-evaluating instruments such as DISC I believe that self-evaluating instruments are valuable to managers.

My opinion is based on my experience with DiSC that has influenced my attitude towards improving my management approach. The tools are similarly important because they allow managers to understand their personalities. This further allows for integrating such personalities in the managerial scope, an aspect that promotes professionalism (McNamara and O’Oara, 2008). Conclusion Knowing my profile pattern from the assessment motivates me to improve on my managerial potentials. The assessment’s results did not however surprise me because they reflected on my personality.

Based on the observed results, I intend to be more flexible and more relaxed in my professional applications. I have also developed confidence in the effectiveness of self-assessment tools.
