The recent events in the United States of America that the population still thinks in terms of black and white and the conflict is far from being resolved. It is quite obvious that one can not say that levels of racism might vary from generation to generation. The key point about this issue is that prejudice against other people and it is not a category that can have a comparative degree, it is always wrong. I do not think that my generation of college students will eliminate racism, but I do acknowledge that my peers will be able to make their important contribution to fighting these issues which will eventually result in total elimination.

The white people benefit from the promotion of the ideology of colorblindness since it may be used as evidence for the success that they get in life. These people suggest that it comes from their devotion to hard work, great interaction between individuals and, maybe, luck, but in reality, they tend to forget about the white privilege and the impact that it has on them. As a result, an incorrect idea is developed, according to which the racial barriers on the way of success no longer exist, not if a person is not successful that it is he or she who should be blamed for it.

The white population tends to argue that the issue of racism was left behind in the past; however, they are often surprised when their ordinary representative is shown to act racist. In other words, there is an idea that subtle racism is permissible within the society and a good way to appear anti-racist is to criticize people who practice racism openly. So, this resulted in the fact that the label of racism is applied exclusively to explicit racism, while subtle racism is not taken into account. Indeed, the majority of the white population rejects the beliefs and behaviors that contain explicit racism and finds please in claim the difference between them and white supremacists.

However, the point that is lost in this process of deciding what racism is focuses on the inability of the people to understand that the idea of colorblindness actually reinforces it. The famous civil rights activist Martin Luther King did not encourage people to become colorblind in order to eliminate racism. On the contrary, he urged society to make sure that race does not play important role in the social environment.
