Abstract Feedback should be accurate and precise for proper dissemination of performance rectification thus, it is the centre of performance improvement. Accurate and precise feedback can only be provided if the performance and practice are being subjected to vigorous analysis of the so called “process”. In notational analysis, recent research has reformed out that our thoughts on performance profiling, reliability, and performance indicators. According to research currently, under sport science, these areas will steadily develop the techniques. If performance analyst roles are considered, a number of football skills are used in collecting and analyzing. On completion of this module, students will be able to: 1. Developing student’s knowledge of performance analysis as a tool within the coaching process. 2. Developing an understanding of measurement issues and information processing aspects of performance analysis. 3. Developing the students practical skills in order for them to design, test and use both hand and computerized notational systems. Introduction Sports recreation has become a major scenario in our day to day lives. It not only helps us in maintaining fitness but also helps in mind physiology. Soccer which is mainly known as football is used in notational analysis in which its techniques are aimed in the analyzing of the gross movement in the game. The football tactics are used in notational analysis which helps students to further understand facts outside the box. By so doing, patterns are identified and emphasized which helps in the fulfillment of goals and objectives. These points are later applied in games that are subsequent (Hughes and Franks, 2008). Notational analysis has emerged in the resent past and has proven to be a technique that can improve the level of professional sports. The technique is aiming at designing a competitive advantage. The game is analyzed by annotating players and matches for techniques and tactics using a technique commonly known as Notations. In order to examine advances taking place in the area of evaluating effectiveness of the coach, we first examine how formal teaching effectiveness has been evaluated. Research on teaching effectiveness has developed since man acknowledged education as a quality value in life. The interaction between the student and the teacher is important in measuring effectiveness. This focus is directed towards a critical element in the learning process which is effective if it is positive. Coaches are required to outline key factors in performance, categories under which the factors will be classified and the criteria for success and unsuccessful performance. They are required to know the objectives in which they want to inflict to their students. The model of coaching requires a coaching practice plan in education programmed. The plan must suit all the facts that students need to know and understand. Analysis is a new technique of recording performance, it facilitates identification of critical events in a specific performance and these events can later be grouped in terms of reliability and consistence. It enables qualitative response which is objective and accurate. This technique ensures that there is no alteration in performance without feedback records. Feedback plays important roles in improvement of performance and it should be recorded to ensure information recorded is precise, accurate, and timely. Accurate and precise feedback can only be provided by a comprehensive analysis of the performance (Hughes and Bartlett, 2002). Notational analysis has emerged in the resent past and has proven to be a technique that can improve the level of professional sports. The technique is aiming at designing a competitive advantage. The game is analyzed by annotating players and matches for techniques and tactics using a technique commonly known as Notations. In the recent past, feedback was occasionally provided by means of subjective observations; these performances were made by coaches in the cause of the performance. These lead to feedbacks been made even without analyzing performance resulting to false analysis. Different researchers proved this to be contradictory and inefficient technique of improving performance. They argued that regardless of experienced coaches having good memories to remember all performance s activities (Hughes and Frank, 2008). Usage of computers introduces extra problems of which the system users and programmers must be aware of. Increase in error possibilities are enhanced by either operator errors or hardware and software errors. Software and hardware errors are introduced by the machinery itself or the programs of instructions controlling the operation of the device. To minimize both problems, careful validation of computerized notation systems must be established. The computerized system and a hand system should be compared, and the accuracy of the system quantitatively assessed. Four major purposes of notation include; analysis of movement, tactical evaluation, technical evaluation and statistical compilation (Hughes and Franks, 2008). Background of notational analysis Coaches have designed simple date systems since the discovery of the inefficiencies of observation technique. Notational analysis was first used by sport scientists in the process of answering some sport related questions in research. In 1970s, the first publication on notational analysis was printed to the public. It was after a research process on this analysis as a discipline as it was being targeted to be incorporated in sport science. Today both computerized and hand notational systems are equally important and it has been proven that the use of computerized databases in relating notated hand information and data post-events makes the analysis to be more powerful (Hughes and Bartlett, 2002). Performance analysis This is the creation of reliable and valid records of performance by use of systematic observations which can be later analyzed to help in improvement of performance (Carling, Williams, and Reilly, 2005). This process depends on two different disciplines which are; match analysis rotation which uses records to evaluate aspects of performance in a team and biomechanics which revolves around activity or sporting impacts of the body. Both points use similar technique in data collection and mainly rely on IT for data analysis and evaluation. There are different types of crucial coaching which includes: 1. Tactic evaluation- Tactic maturation of a certain sport can be analyzed at various levels of development commonly methodology is the cross-sectional pattern. Tactics used within a certain development level of a sport will greatly depend on the physical maturation, technical development and other variables (Hughes and Franks, 2001). 2. Technical evaluation- aims at evaluating where techniques excel or fail, and thus helps the coach to evaluate performance at certain levels (Carling, Williams, and Reilly, 2005). 3. Deciding of performance markers- these elements are later broken down into smaller sub elements to facilitate measurability. Its benefit is that it removes subjective opinions in both the coach and the players equipping them with objective ones. 4. Collection of information- best way of doing this is to have a live recording of the match when it is happening. Major rectifications are done by summoning players over their faults and can be discussed during half time. 5. Use of studio code- this software assist in developing performance analysis by changing the previous ideas related to video analysis. It has helped coaches in the sector of soccer in shifting from performance video analysis to performance analysis. Studio code services- Is a new software tool that aims at providing quantitative and qualitative research, multidisciplinary analysis, and professional development. This includes a wonderful transcription facility that facilitates subtitles when using your video (Hughes and Bartlett, 2002). To analyze performance and present findings In-game analysis A simple match analysis can be collected in the cause of the game with an aim of making tactical decision. The best people to do this are the coaching members, backroom staff or injured players. Post game analysis The objective of this analysis is to lay a good foundation for the future as well as the present that is, learning from our mistakes (Hughes and Bartlett, 2002). Further evaluation and analysis Various goalkeepers’ coaching should be assessed: ball sight, starting position, stance, ball attack, handling technique, and decision making. This part should be emphasized because many coaches forget that the goal keeper is more important than most players because his inefficiency affects the overall team (Hughes and Bartlett, 2002). Conclusion In collecting behavioral information, systematic observation techniques help both the researchers and the coaches in that collection. The information can later be processed in different ways in reference to the aim of data collection. In any sport, feedback is the key aspect in improvement and performance. This makes it very important to design the most efficient ways of data collection to increase the level of development. There is a wake up call to all coaches in Africa, some parts of Asia, and South America, they should be ready to embrace the new changes in soccer as well as other games and we will all increase the level of competence. Coaches should utilize these new technologies in improving their team’s level of performance thus making soccer the leading source of entertainment.
